My name is Lauren, I’m a mom, wife and accountant.

This is not a story about me or my family, or my job, it’s about how cancer took my mom away and what helped me move on, at least a little.

It happened in 2020.

To be honest, I never thought it would happen to me or one of my friends or family members…

Unfortunately, it did happen.

Mom got breast cancer, and from the very beginning the doctors told us that she might not make it.

Regardless of what the doctors said, we were optimistic that mom would recover.

… but she didn’t.

She was 74 years old.

I cried for days. I didn’t even want to get out of my bed or eat.

The feeling was overwhelming…

I wanted to crawl under a rock and never come out again!

I was frustrated, devastated and hopeless.

For days, and weeks, I did nothing but cry.

I thought life was never going to be good again, and for months, I was right. Life was hell.

Until, something small, changed everything…

It is actually a small, insignificant thing, but it helped me so much, I couldn’t even imagine…

It was my birthday, and as usual, I was depressed and crying even harder since I didn’t have mom by my side for 

the first time in 45 years.

Usually, I would have a coffee with my mom and think about all the nice memories we had… but now, she was gone… forever.

I wanted to experience the same feeling for my birthday, but how? How was it possible to replace the presence of someone?

I started searching the web for solutions, determined not to give up until I found

what I wanted.

I searched for hours… and nothing. I logged into Facebook to check my birthday wishes, and as soon as I logged in, an ad popped up.

Usually I hate ads, but this one was different.

It was a necklace with a sparkling heart locket with a personalized photo.

As soon as I saw it, I knew it! I was going to get a photo of me and my mom in the locket and wear it forever!

I just stopped crying and hit the purchase button.

For my surprise, it arrived the very next week!

Since then, I’m always wearing the necklace and even though my mom is not here with me anymore, she will always be in my heart.

It’s not only a spiritual pendant for me, but it also makes a very nice piece of jewelry that I can wear at any type of event.
